Felting, it's time consuming
I finished 3 animals so far. The lamb of course was my first, the burro next and then the camel. Each getting more and more elaborate. I am now going to start the people, I have 3 wise men, Mary and Joseph, baby Jesus, and possibly a shepherd and an angel. Wish me luck getting those done before Christmas.
***Edited to add! Here is the first person I've felted. I did it last night and he only took me about an hour. So much faster than that Camel!!!
He is one of the wisemen with a small chest of gold.

I am seriously so impressed. Those are adorable!
Thanks Mary Grace! It's fun too, & they look like cute little muppets. You should try it!
I smiled so hard looking at these figures my face hurt. The camel is so expressive, love the eyes especially. The lamby is sweet and the donkey looks great too. Trivia: the wise men are Balthasar from Africa, Caspar a white European, and Melchior was Asian or variously Arabian.
Most nativity sets show Melchior, an older man with gray hair and long beard, giving Jesus the gift of gold. Caspar, young and beardless (alternately short beard without gray), gives the gift of frankincense, and Balthasar, middle-aged with a typical beard, gives the gift of myrrh.
Oh my goodness, these are the most wonderful things I have seen in a long time! How did you get started doing this? Do you have plans to sell these at any point? They look like little heirlooms I'd want to pass down to my children :) Ok, I'll leave you alone now. Just stopping by from E.'s slumber party :)
Thanks Stacy! I saw some on Etsy for sale while searching for a nativity set I could possibly make, and I thought I'd give it a whirl. Its not so hard, just a bit repetitive but it's really fun to create little characters. I don't know if I'll continue to make them to sell. I tend to bounce around from craft to craft, and have never sold anything... Someday maybe?
O.M.G. --- you MADE these? When are you opening a shop? Seriously -- these are beyond anything I could EVER create. Oh..I am a bounce crafter too. I call it ADD crafting. :)
Just checking in on one of my sleepover girls. Thank you so much for coming and joining the party.
Keep me posted IF you ever want to sell. :)
Cheers~

Do you have a pattern for this. My kids and I really want to try making one but can't find any tutorials.
I love yous
These are gorgeous. do you have a pattern? I would love to make one but can't figure out how.
Hi Naomi, No pattern for the people but I did buy a felting book at the store where I bought the roving, it had the entire camel in it. It was a great step by step pattern and I used that knowledge (and artistic license) to make the rest. I got my inspiration for the people from Etsy sellers pictures. You are welcome to email me any questions so I can help!
