Help me choose our new fireplace

Well here we go again, I have ideas swirling around in my head and they involve renovating.
Our Fireplace has looked like this since we bought the place. We painted around it, the walls a sunny yellow and the ceiling a buttery off white. You can still see the spot where we tested the ceiling paint on the fireplace.
Current state

You can see that there is a strange rounded "mantle" on there currently that really serves no function and is not even visually appealing. The surface of the fireplace is a rough stucco which we plan to change to a smooth plaster or hand trowelled concrete finish. I want the fireplace to look less blah, but I don't want it "in your face" if you know what I mean.
Here are the options I have come up with and have Photo-shopped to help me decide, and you can vote for your favorite, if any.

Here we have the fireplace with a large curved Rustic Wood Mantle, and it's finished in a super white colored plaster.

This is with a large curved Rustic Wood Mantle, finished in a super white colored plaster, with small 2x2 Cobalt blue tiles.

Please Vote your favorite, or feel free to write your own wonderful ideas for this dilemma in the comment section. I appreciate any and all feedback from you!

I love the pop of blue, it incorporates so much from your home and helps tie it all together, so that is my vote...with the buttery yellow color. ;)

I think I like the blue tiles and the white plaster. Somehow, the yellow plaster makes the wall color look "off".

I like the yellow with the teracota tiles, since you already have a feel of southwestern/desert. This will incorporate the floor tile and tie the color in with the ceiling.. make sure to post finished project

Of all the designs, the one with Cobalt blue tiles caught my attention the most! By the way, where did you get this idea? I mean, the whole fireplace design? Looking at your fireplace reminds me of an Indian tent!

My vote goes for the one with the Cobalt blue tiles too! It’s been 2 years already, what design did you chose for your fireplace? How’s your fireplace now?

@Angelina We decided to not add any tiles at all!
You can see the finished product in the background of this post. http://roryandnicole.blogspot.com/2011/01/oh-happy-day.html
I decided I would rather use accessories to decorated a plain fireplace than have a permanent colored tile in it.

@Cathy the design for this type of fireplace was already in place when we moved in. It's called a Beehive Fireplace, and is commonly used in southwestern decor styles. We just resurfaced the stucco with concrete and added a wooden mantel.
